Orange – Second Best Network

Orange is also a good choice to try if you are looking for a Bad Credit Mobile Phone Contract. Vodafone – Best Deals and Great Approval Rate

Although Vodafone has lower approval rate than Orange or T Mobile it has some top quality deals and with the advent of Sim Only Deals Vodafone may offer a surprise approval as Sim Only Deals pose less risk to the network making the approval process easier and less strict.

Bad Credit Contract Acceptance Tips

- If you have been declined previously for a mobile contract then we suggest you try a SIM Only Contract. This is basically a 30 day rolling contract. Although you don’t get a shiny new mobile you do build up trust with a network like T Mobile or Orange and after 2 or 3 months you can re apply for a full mobile contract with all the benefits.

- Try and apply to the network that you are currently on pay as you go with as this will show some history.

- When applying don’t panic if the system asks for a small security deposit of for example £30-50 as this is to secure that you will pay your bills and puts the networks mind at rest. Once you have paid a few months you will get your deposit back normally in the form of a bill credit.

- If you get declined from one network don’t worry about re applying either immediately to another network or to the original network in a few months.

Try T Mobile for a Great Solo Tariff

Go Direct – Going direct to a mobile phone network is seen to be the best way to secure yourself a new mobile phone on contract. The main reason for this is that mobile phone networks have more tolerance as to who they accept. If you go to a third party retailer they have stricter controls on who they accept as customers. By choosing a network such as T-Mobile, Orange or O2 you can increase your chances of being accepted. If you want to try and find a deal through a mobile shop try mobiles 2 your door or phones4u.

Try a Sim Only Deal – Sim Only Deals are exactly what they say on the  tin sim. Basically you get a simcard much more monthly allowance than you would get with a normal mobile contract only you don’t get a new phone. DON’T PANIC..this can be a temporary measure as once you have built up some loyalty you can apply for a full contract with a great new mobile.

Build up loyalty on Pay as you go – Pay as you go with the network your with can help show what sort of customer you are as well as build up some loyalty with the mobile networks. So if you get declined for a mobile contract or a sim only deal we suggest you just ride it out and periodically apply when things have improved.

Get a contract in partners / parents / friends names - ***Warning only if you can trust them/ be trusted*** – You can get a contract in someone elses name providing they will take responsibility  for your actions. When I first applied for a contract I signed up through my dad on O2 and updated my details part way through the contract and have had no problems since.

Get a pager? – Seriously..if you have tried all of the tips here the chances of getting approved or a mobile contract are pretty slim in the short term however should your circumstances change for the better you can still apply later.

1/ Have you checked that you are on the Voters role this is often used as part of the mobile phone credit checking process. If you are not on the electoral role then you are much more likely to get declined for a mobile phone even if you don’t have a bad credit history.

2/ Have you looked at your credit file as this could give some clues into why you have been declined in the first place.

3/ Who have you applied too before and when was this. The likely hood is if your circumstances haven’t changed then you won’t get approved by that particular network.

4/ Apply for a credit card or other form of contract/lending based product as this will improve your credit rating as long as you follow the rules.

5/ When you pick your phone think like the mobile phone network, would you accept yourself on a top of the range handset if you have no proven track record or have had bad credit issues in the past?

6/ For the first few months of getting a new mobile contract try a sim only plan with the network of your choice. The reason for this is that the credit check is set alot lower and so there is a much higher chance that you will pass with flying colours. You can then change to a mobile phone 18 or 24 month contract later.

We have heard lots of information from various forums about the better acceptance rate on T Mobile, Orange and O2 when applying for a Sim Only deal with no phone.

We suggest that you try and sign up with the network that suits your needs best and if possible follow all of the tips on our site to ensure you get a contract. As they say its easier once your in…if you apply that to mobiles then you are best to try:

- Applying direct – With the mobile networks – T Mobile, Orange, O2

- Opt for a Sim Only deal

- Pick a mid range phone instead of the latest most expensive model you can find

- Check your credit report before you do anything else

With mobile broadband the value of the dongle is rather low and so the risk involved when accepting new customers is lower as a result. We suggest either Vodafone or T Mobile when applying for mobile broadband when your credit rating is not quite as good as it should be.

One thing to be noted is that with a bad credit rating it is pretty pointless trying to apply for mobile broadband with a free laptop as the value of a laptop or netbook is around the £300-500 mark and can’t easily be locked by the network if you fail to pay your bills. The acceptance rate is rather low for these deals even for customers with fairly good credit ratings. If you want a mobile broadband contract you could try a rolling contract with three (3) or try getting accepted with T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone or O2.
